The Award was established in memory of former Youth Arch Foundation Honorary Advisor, Ms. Dora Hung, who passed away peacefully in January, 2013. To pass on her spirit of philanthropy, the Youth Arch Foundation set up the Award in the same year, honouring nominating teachers of the "Youth Arch Top 10 Students Improvement Award", who influence others’ lives with their own. The Award aims at encouraging teachers to continue Ms. Hung’s spirit and to cultivate responsible students to contribute to society. As former Vice President of the Lion & Globe Educational Trust, Ms. Hung wholeheartedly supported student activities, including the Hong Kong Outstanding Students Award and the Most Improved Students Award. She dedicated her life to improving people’s living quality and actively utilized her professional knowledge to make contributions to people’s health. Since 2005, Ms. Hung directly sponsored youth projects to support students with potential who are financially challenged. In 2007, she also established the Wing Han Educational Foundation, a non-profit charitable organization with the objective to help the youths of Hong Kong improve their educational environment and opportunities, focusing on students from under-privileged homes and schools. The Foundation aims to broaden their outlooks, enhance their general knowledge, enable their learning, develop their creativities and self-confidence, and sharpen their competitiveness.
